The Wharton Park focuses on sustainability
We like to think that The Wharton Park is your happy place, but we also want to make sure it’s helping make the planet happy too. We’ve recently reviewed our carbon footprint and created a strategy that’s aimed at helping the UK achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
As part of this, we’re constantly looking for ways we can reduce our environmental impact. We’ve achieved a lot so far, but recognise there’s still plenty more we can do and are doing.
Our parent company Mitchell’s & Butlers are continuously making small, but important changes, that will help reduce our impact on the planet. As a company, we are committed to continuing to make improvements and sustainable choices. This includes focusing on:
o Net Zero Greenhouse Gas emissions by 2040 (scope 1,2 and 3)
o Achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030
o Reducing food waste by 50% by 2030
o We work with Fareshare to redistribute surplus food to communities who need it
o Our pub is powered with 100% renewable electricity
o 96% of our operational waste is diverted from landfill
o Stonehouse are founding members of the Zero Carbon Forum and committed to reducing our emissions and developing a roadmap to net zero
